Two vitamin components on the same Pokémon combine automatically. The six components make 21 combinations; the recipe table below lists them. Match Attack items to physical damage and Sp. Atk items to special abilities, healing or shields, then check the holder’s active ability.
This page is for deciding what to make and who should hold it. For removing an existing loadout without selling a Pokémon, use the dedicated Magnet guide.

Component order does not change the recipe. The combined item keeps the component stats and adds its effect. In version 34, Metal Powder is the displayed name of the item that replaces Eviolite; older lists may still use the old name.
The in-game Recipes control shows combinations, with recipes you can already make highlighted in green in the item manager. On PC, R opens Recipes while choosing an item.
Choose the holder before combining
Protein supports Attack, Calcium supports Sp. Atk and Carbos supports attack speed. HP Up raises maximum HP; Iron and Zinc support Defense and Sp. Def. Read the ability card’s Physical, Special or Mixed label before choosing a damage item.
For example, Calcium plus Calcium makes Choice Specs, while Protein plus Protein makes Choice Band. A familiar Pokémon type does not decide which is right: the current ability and its scaling do. Some Pokémon can switch physical or special forms according to the vitamins in their items.
For a concrete recorded loadout, see the comp item holders. A recipe tells you what you can make; it does not prove that every holder benefits equally.
Item changes to remember in v34–35
| Item | Current change to remember |
|---|---|
| Metal Powder | Replaces Eviolite; +6% Defense and Sp. Def per enemy targeting the holder. |
| Life Orb | No HP cost; +15% to +50% damage depending on missing HP. |
| Expert Belt | Basic attacks use the holder’s best type and gain 30% damage when super effective. |
| Sitrus Berry | Heals 20% maximum HP, down from 25%. |
| Rocky Helmet | Returns 22%, up from 18%. |
| Choice Specs | Bonus increased to 50%, from 45%. |
| Mental Herb | Recharges in 8 seconds; triggering it gives 20% attack speed for 3 seconds. |
The changed item names and numbers matter when comparing an older guide. Read the current tooltip for the full trigger and scope, especially for healing, shielding and damage-over-time effects.
Version 35 Focus Sash exception: it can save each Pokémon only once. Extra copies add their stats but do not grant additional rescues. Do not apply a general duplicate-stacking rule to its survival trigger.
Equip, combine and move equipment
Use the item manager: select an item, then its Pokémon. On mobile, press Save to apply the pending equipment changes. During combat you can change equipment on benched Pokémon, not active fighters.
A Magnet removes the whole loadout and returns it to the bag without selling the holder. When a merge produces more items than fit, version 34 returns the excess to the bag.
In PvP PvE rounds, version 34 lets you choose one of three component rewards whether you win or lose. Before choosing, compare the recipe you can complete with the holder you actually have.
Version 35 allows selling items from the bag in Campaign, Tower and Adventures. This is not documented here as a PvP bag-sale feature. Selling the item is different from using a Magnet to recover a Pokémon’s loadout.
Quick questions
Do component recipes depend on the order I combine them?
No. The same pair produces the same combined item in either order.
What replaced Eviolite?
Metal Powder replaced Eviolite in version 34. Its defense bonus depends on how many enemies target the holder.
Why did my mobile equipment edit not apply?
Press Save in the mobile item manager. Its pending edits do not apply until saved; this is separate from cloud saving.
Will two Focus Sashes save a Pokémon twice?
No. Version 35 limits the rescue to once per Pokémon. Extra copies only contribute stats.
